| Profile |
After receiving just a few Shiatsu treatments, Joyce realised that Shiatsu was a powerful therapy that could affect profound change in the body. Soon after, she began studying at the Zendo Health Centre in Darwin, where she learned more about this deep and subtle therapy. Joyce gained a Diploma of Zen Shiatsu in 2002 and began a small practice with a Saturday morning clinic. After moving back to Sydney, Joyce completed further training at the Zen Renaissance Healing Centre. She opened Zenso in 2007.
Joyce is a supporter of integrative medicine, a model where health care providers from different disciplines work in cooperation. She believes that Shiatsu is one of the true holistic therapies. "As well as relieveing both physical and emotional issues, Shiatsu encourages you to be more aware of your overall patterns and encourages you to take responsibility for your own health."
Joyce has been accepted as a full member of the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Australia (STAA), the national organisation representing professionally trained Shiatsu therapists across Australia. This has enabled her to register as a Shiatsu practitioner with a range of private health funds.
