Remedial/Sports Massage
 |
Remedial Massage is a combination of techniques used to rid the body of aches and pains or to treat an injury, these can include: Deep tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, PNF Stretching and Myo Fascial Release (MFR).
Choose a Remedial Massage if you have an injury you want worked on or have particular aches and pains you want relieved.
Remedial Massage can sometimes be slightly painful whilst treating the issue however it is usually very effective in releasing the pain that brought you in for the massage. It is this reason why we usually combine Relaxation techniques with your Remedial Massage to make your treatment as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. |
 |
Myo Fascia Release (MFR)is a Remedial technique used to work on the fascia of the body.
Fascia is the "spider webbing" connective tissue that encases every muscle and organ in the body. If the fascia is tight then its very hard to release the muscle long term.
During the MFR technique people report a sense of calmness, relaxation and a feeling of the body unwinding.
MFR is used in conjunction with other Remedial Massage techniques to perform an over all massage.

Trigger Point Therapy is usually used during a Remedial Massage to relieve tender points on the body which often have "referral pains" (an ache in the body often seemingly unrelated to the specific tender point).
Relieving Trigger Points can be painful for a short period of time and because of this all due care and comfort is taken into consideration for the individual recieving treatment.
Trigger Point therapy is however an extremely effective technique of releasing tight and achey muscles.

Sports Massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one, it's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance.
A Sports Massage helps decrease recovery time, helps to prevent injury, It also helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.
