Acupressure
Acupressure is a Chinese ancient form of healing in which the practitioner uses their hands to deliver gentle pressure to strategic points on the patient’s body in order to alleviate ailments. Acupressure employs a multifaceted approach, recognizing the interconnectivity of mind, body, sprit and emotion in healing.
Acupressure practitioners are trained to identify a series of energy channels throughout the body; known as meridians. Each of these meridians are linked to specific organs and glands. By assessing the meridians the practitioners can identify any imbalance and restore harmony to the body with non-invasive finger pressure to specific points. Because of its holistic approach, acupressure often identifies mental, emotional and spiritual condition as the cause of physical discomfort and disease.
The patient of an acupressure treatment will be placed fully clothed on a soft massage table. Session times run an average of one hour. In most instances a series of several sessions is necessary to complete treatment.
