Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient therapeutic treatment in which fine needles are used to alleviate a myriad of ailments by fostering the balance of life flow within the body.
Acupuncture attempts to balance both Qi (or Chi), the flow of energy, and Xue, the flow of blood. The two systems, Qi and Xue, flow through the human body in a system of meridians, these meridians have been studied and mapped for well over two thousand years.
Acupuncture assists in healing by bringing the body to balance through stimulating and or redirecting the flow of Qi, and Xue through the use of hair thin needles.
The patient of acupuncture is often placed on a massage table and is required to expose the skin of the area that is to be worked on. The depth of penetration of the acupuncture needles depends on the size and age of the patient, the nature of the ailment and the style of the practitioner. Needles might be inserted anywhere from 1/8 of an inch up to one inch. Sessions vary in length, and the number of treatments required depends on the nature of the condition.
