Massage from the Arabic word ‘masah’ means to stroke with the hand. In applying trained methods of touch, massage facilitates relaxation & reduces stress, aids circulation, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion, and brings the body into physical and emotional balance.
Massage is the deliberate application of touch that restores the physical balance of the body’s soft tissue through friction, kneading, percussion and the application of finger point pressure.
Infant massage stimulates the child’s immune system, aids in relaxation, sleep habits, bonding, digestion, circulation, respiration, decreases pain and discomfort, and produces endorphins that reduce stress.
