Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy treats physical and emotional health issues through the application and use of aromatic oils.
The aromas used most often come in the form of essential oils and are derived from flowers, roots, and bark.
Aromatherapy works under the auspice that scents trigger memories of previous experience, which in turn trigger specific emotions that condition the body to heal. The fact that the nasal cavity is controlled by the same part of the brain as that which controls blood pressure and heart rate, breathing, memory, anxiety, hormone balance and stress levels, means that aromatherapy can have a profound impact on treating ailments.
Aromatherapy is often combined with other forms of therapy, such as remedial and relaxation massage, counselling and meditation. The scents of aromatherapy can be administered through direct inhalation, topical application, diluted in bath water or ingested in a tea.
Some benefits of Aromatherapy include: commonly administered and commonly successfully treatment of stress and anxiety, emotional trauma, depression, chronic migraines and insomnia.
