Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Chinese Herbal Medicine, or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system dating back more than 23 centuries. TCM often employs acupuncture and acupressure, herbs and diet.
The general concept of TCM is the regulation of Qi (energy) so as to balance the patient’s Yin and Yang; hot and cold, wet and dry, inner and outer, body and mind. By manipulating Qi the practitioner enables the exercise of weak organs, the opening of congested channels, the softening of tightness, the dispersal of excess, the calming of agitation, the cooling of heat, the warming of coolness etc.
TCM is holistic in its approach and treats the body as a whole, curing the cause of discomfort, as well as soothing symptoms.
